Managing Your Newsletter
Accessing Your Dashboard
- Go to https://statusdothealth.substack.com/publish
- Log in with your Substack credentials
- You’ll see:
- Subscriber count and list
- Post analytics
- Revenue (if you enable paid subscriptions)
- Settings and customization options
Viewing Subscribers
- In your dashboard, click Subscribers in the left menu
- You can:
- See all subscribers with signup dates
- Export subscriber list as CSV
- Filter by free/paid (if using paid tiers)
- Search for specific subscribers
Publishing Content
Option 1: Substack as Primary (Recommended)
- Write and publish on Substack
- Copy content to Jekyll blog as markdown
- Benefits:
- Automatic email notifications
- Built-in comments and discussion
- Social features
Option 2: Jekyll Blog as Primary
- Publish on Jekyll blog first
- Copy/paste to Substack
- Add link back to original blog post
Setting Up Automatic Imports (Optional)
Substack can automatically import your blog posts:
- Go to Settings → Import
- Add your RSS feed:

- Choose import frequency
- Select whether to publish immediately or save as drafts
Verifying RSS Feed
To ensure your RSS feed is working properly:
- Test the feed: Visit https://blog.status.health/feed.xml in your browser
- Validate: Use https://validator.w3.org/feed/ to check for errors
- Email Substack: Send your RSS feed URL to statusdothealth@substack.com
- Monitor imports: Check Settings → Import → History
RSS Feed Details:
- Format: RSS 2.0
- Updates: Automatically when new posts are published
- Contains: Title, date, excerpt, and full content
- Categories: Included as tags
Managing Unsubscribes
Substack handles this automatically:
- Unsubscribe Notifications:
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Enable “Email me when someone unsubscribes”
- Viewing Unsubscribes:
- Check Stats → Subscribers → Unsubscribed
- See reasons if provided
- Re-engagement:
- Substack automatically handles re-subscribe requests
- Previous unsubscribers can easily re-join
